How do I play the game?

One our our users has made this great video on how to play StakeMyRep. We've introduced a bunch of stuff since we launched this, but it's a great explainer.

The first step is creating a challenge, so what do you want to do? You can check out other challenges by selecting the “completed” tab on the home page.

After you sign up and log in:

  • Select 'create challenge' from the top-right corner of the screen
  • Make your declaration and give the challenge a title
  • Choose 24/48-hour, or week-long challenge
  • Select the amount of Reputation Points you would like to stake
  • Fill in some details about what the challenge is about
  • Select a category

What is the goal here?

StakeMyRep is like a turbocharged to-do list.

When you set goals for yourself and let others know about it, you're more accountable. StakeMyRep helps you achieve stuff in a really interesting and fun way. Either cheer people along by staking for their challenges, or give them a friendly nudge with a stake against :)

When you complete challenges, upload some evidence. Other people will vote it up or down.

Set goals others can stake for or against, update your status on the profile page, earn badges, climb the leaderboard and collect sweet Reputation Points (RP). Win prizes for doing sponsored challenges, and earn rare, one-of-a-kind badges.

It's all about having fun, meeting new people and getting stuff done.

What are Reputation Points?

  • RP is our fun currency. You start with 1000 and you stake some RP when you post a challenge
  • Other players stake their RP for or against you, and of course you can do the same when they set themselves a challenge
  • Everyone votes on whether they believe you completed the challenge successfully. If the majority think you did, you'll share 50% of the RP staked against you. The other 50% goes to the people who staked for you
  • If you fail, all the people who staked against you share your stake between them, plus all of the RP that others staked for you
  • The more challenging, creative and interesting the challenge, the more RP gets put down!

Once you make a bet on a challenge, you will need to wait for the challenge owner to submit evidence and then vote on that evidence.

How do I submit evidence?

Log in and go to your challenge page, and provide evidence by uploading media, writing some plain old text or pasting links to other sites.

  • You can submit evidence anytime right up until the timer runs out. If you don't submit evidence prior to this, you have failed to complete your challenge.
  • To find your challenge, login, go to the home page and select 'My Challenges'.
  • Under your challenge description, you will see a box where you can write text or post links. Try to find creative ways to time-stamp the evidence (one of our early testers, named Bean, used a newspaper and a photo as proof that she had completed the challenge on time).

Is there an age limit?

Yes, you must be over 13 years old to play StakeMyRep.
